Barisal division situated in the south west part of Bangladesh, has an area of approx 13297 sq. km. Barisal division was formed on January 1993. The Barisal municipality was established in 1957. Barisal Division is a revering area, it is a Division of rivers and canals. It is also famous for gardens of coconut trees. Kuakata is the main tourist spot in this division. In Barishal town you can visit Durga Sagor - a beautiful Dighi where lot of guest birds comes every winter season.

Main Tourist Attractions of Barisal Division:
- Kuakata Beach: Locally known as Sagar Kannya (Daughter of the Sea) is a rare scenic beauty spot on the southernmost tip of Bangladesh. It is 70 km from Patuakhali district headquarters and 320 km from Dhaka. Kuakata is located under Kalapara upazila of Patuakhali district which is about 30 km in length. In Kuakata you can visit the life style of tribe Rakhains, who are very friendly to the tourist and visitors. Kuakata is a spacious sandy beach where both sunrise and sunset can be enjoyed. It was a part of the greater Sundarbans area.
- Fatrar Char: Fatrar Char is also known as Fatrar Bon which is located at Kuakata, Patuakhali. As the Fatrar Char is the part of Sundarban so it is a mangrove forest. It is fairly big forest in Kuakata. There are many Timber trees available here.
- Jacob Tower: The Jacob Tower is the tallest watch tower in Southeast Asia. It is a 225-foot high watch tower meant for the tourists who want to look around the lush green island rich in eco-tourism, wildlife, greens and unexplored natural beauties of the Char Kukri Mukri (island) from the top of the tower.
- Char Kukri-Mukri Wildlife Sanctuary: Also called Charfession Wildlife sanctuary located in Southern Charfession Upazilla of Bhola district. This beautiful island is located beside Bay of Bengal in the south part of the country. The area of the sanctuary is around 100 acres, and is elongated in shape.
- Barisal Divisional Museum: The museum has been established in the old Collectorate building of the district. The building itself is a historical monument that was built in the British era. The government of Bangladesh declared the building as a protected archaeological site in 2003. In 2005, the work of transforming the building into a museum has been started.
- Durga Sagar: It’s a beautiful big pond which is located at Swarupkathi - Barisal Road, Madhabpasha, Barisal. Rani Durgabati, mother of Raja Joy Narayan, had the pond excavated in 1780. It is also known locally as Madhabpasha Dighi. It has a total area of about 2,500 hectares.
- Lakutia Zamindar Bari: This old zamidar house is located at Babur Bazar, Chhoy Mile road, Barisal. The zamindari in that region was established by Raja Rupchondro Roy in the 18th century. But the palace was built by his grandson, Raja Raychondro Roy in the 19th century.
- Guthia Baitul Aman Jame Masjid: This is a beautiful mosque which covers an area of 14 acres of land. The mosque has not any traditional or ancient history. It is located in Guthia union at Barisal district. It is not only a center of prayer but also a place for visiting. It was built in 2003. Sharfuddin Ahmed Sentu built the mosque. The cost of construction of this mosque is about 20 crore taka which was the solo donation of Sharfuddin Ahmed. On October 20, 2006, the mosque was inaugurated by praying Jumma Prayer. Since then many visitors from different places in the country have been visiting the mosque every day.
- Bibichini Shahi Mosque: This famous mosque is located at Bibi Chini, Betagi, Barguna district. Bibi Chini Mosque is an ancient mosque and archaeological site. This Mughal architecture style mosque was built by an Islamic preacher named Shah Neyamat Ullah.
- Bir Sreshtho Mostafa Kamal Memorial Library & Museum: This is the only museum listed in Bhola which is located at Ali Nagar, Bhola Sadar.
- Kirtipasha Zamindar Bari: This old house is located at Kirtipasha Bazar Road, Jhalokati. History says, the house of Kirtipasha was established about a hundred years ago.
